Get 1/2 cup gobindabhog or basmati rice
Get 1/2 cup sona moong dal
Prepare 2 potatoes cut into cubes
Get 2 green chillies(spited)
Make ready 1 dry red chilli
Take 1 bay leaf
Get 1 small piece ginger(grated)
Prepare 1 tomato (chopped)
Take 1/4 cup small coconut pieces
Take 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Take to taste Salt
Prepare 1/4 tsp jeera seeds
Prepare 1 tbsp ghee
Get 4 cups warm water or as required
Prepare As needed Coriander leaves
Instructions to make Moong dal khichdi:
Soak rice & dal in water for minimum 30 mints, then rinse it well,drain the water & keep aside.
Heat ghee in a pan, add jeera seeds, bay leaf, dry red chilli.When jeera splutters,add green chilli, grated ginger,chopped tomatoes.
Now add the potato,coconut pieces & fry for a mints.Then add the drained rice, dal & mix well.Add salt,turmeric powder.
Pour 4 cups water or as required.Pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
Once the pressure subsides by itself drizzle little ghee on top.
Garnish it with coriander leaves & coconut pieces.Serve hot with papad, pineapple chutney or any other of your choice.
